Recently, management has received complaints from customers and employees about mobile device use at the workplace. Customers have been frustrated that employees are sending text messages or talking rather than attending to the needs of the customers. Employees have been frustrated because they feel they must do more work to cover for those not paying attention.

In light of these complaints, management feels it is necessary to clarify the employee policy on mobile device use. During paid work time, all employees are expected to leave their personal mobile phones in their lockers. Using mobile phones during work time is extremely distracting and will no longer be tolerated. The customers of deserve the full attention of our employees.

The first time an employee violates this policy, the manager or supervisor on duty will issue A second violation will warrant a written warning. If an employee violates this policy a third time, he or she will be fired.

As a company, Sam's Eatery realizes that keeping mobile phones nearby makes sense in the event of an emergency. However, mobile phone use must be restricted inside the restaurant. Restaurant management must ensure that all are met. The safety and focus of our employees is also a main concern.
