Writing Evaluation
The Writing Evaluation measures a student’s ability to express ideas clearly,
organize information, and use standard written English. In this assessment, students must read a
prompt, develop a well-structured response, and support their ideas with logical reasoning or evidence.
This evaluation focuses on:
- Clarity of ideas – communicating thoughts in a way that is easy to understand
- Organization – having an introduction, body, and conclusion
- Grammar and sentence structure – using proper spelling, punctuation, and complete sentences
- Development of ideas – explaining points with examples, facts, or personal experience
- Use of evidence when required
The goal of the Writing Evaluation is to determine whether students can produce writing that meets
GED-level expectations. This helps instructors understand each student’s current skill level
and what areas need improvement before taking the official GED Reasoning Through Language Arts test.
